PREGNANT? OVERWEIGHT? RECENT SURGERY? HIP REPLACEMENT? KNEE REPLACEMENT? CORONARY BY-PASS? M.S.? M.E.? STROKE? AMPUTATION? LEARNING DIFFICULTIES? OR JUST PLAIN SCARED OF WATER?If the answer to any of these is YES and you or a member of your family find “dry land” exercise difficult then why not try exercise in water?
We aim to provide a sheltered swimming environment for anyone who cannot cope with the splash and turbulence of public sessions. We hire the pool for an hour on Saturday mornings before it opens to the public from 0915 to 1015. The water temperature is usually around 28 to 32 deg.
We are a small friendly group, where you will get to know other swimmers with disabilities. Members take an interest, in, and support each others progress. The group is open to the disabled person and their family and friends. We have special 'staircase steps' with hand rails and a 'chair lift' for easy entry to the pool.
Membership can be annual or just come along for a few sessions to see how you like us. If you can swim but have been ill or injured and are a bit nervous, come along for a few sessions to get you going again. Safety is closely monitored by the pool staff with lifesaving qualifications.
The pool is well equipped to cater for the needs of disabled swimmers, with wheelchair ramps, disabled toilets, changing rooms, easy access showers, non-slip floors and plenty of hand rails.
Please remember to check with your doctor first to be advise if exercise in water will be suitable for your needs.

WHAT WE ASK OF YOU:
- Please remember, check with your doctor first.
- Please phone one of the contact numbers shown on the Contact Us page before you attend. This enables us to be aware of your problems so that appropriate help can be given.
- If you are very disabled and normally have assistance at home, please bring someone willing to go into the water with you and to help you dress. If you haven’t got anyone to do this, help can be arranged with our volunteer helpers.
-
If you bring children with you, please keep them under control as too much water turbulence can be distressing to other members.
